Spring has Sprung!

One of my favorite places to go and enjoy nature in the spring is Abington art center. Located on a historic 27 acre campus, you can walk through their sculpture garden.

Nature and Art Come Alive

A visit to the Sculpture Park begins at the outdoor Welcome Area where you can find information about our  27-acre park and the sculptures currently on view. Environmental issues and images run deep in AAC’s Sculpture Park. The woodland landscape lends itself to the development of sculpture that comments on the human impact on the environment, reveals the cycles of nature, and uses natural materials. Every visit to the Sculpture Park is different based on the light, the weather and the seasons. It takes about 1 hour to visit the entire park.
AAC’s Sculpture Park welcomes everyone from school children and families to art enthusiasts and tourists. The Sculpture Park has been recognized on the national level with public project grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Pew Charitable Trusts, the Andy Warhol Foundation and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.
Abington Art Center presents exhibitions, programs and events designed to make the visual arts a part of your world. They believe art should be engaging, approachable and, above all else, fun. At Abington Art Center, you won’t just observe art. You’ll touch it, feel it, create it and be a part of it.

Eureka
Sundays 1-3PM

The project for April is Printmaking.
EUREKA! costs $5 per project/ AAC Members FREE.

Everyhome Ladies night out at Leila's Bistro in Jenkintown.

Wednesday March 12, the Ladies of Everyhome had a wonderful evening in Jenkintown.

It truly is a little piece of Paris in Jenkintown. The décor is elegant and romantic much like a café in Paris. The food is classically Parisian, though the menu is next to imposable to find online. It changes often and always has something new.
We had a wonderful time enjoying the wonderful food and all the wine we brought. The champagne came out and we all toasted to the coming spring! It was a beautiful setting to get to know and enjoy some down time with my fellow colleagues and hard working mothers!
Here are some wonderful reviews I found on-line:
CHOW hound: Very cute, quaint little bistro in Jenkintown that has French influenced really great food. Its BYO and cash only and reservations are definitely needed because its so small. May hold 20 or so diners.
The French onion soup was so delicious, not what you expect from our Americanized onion soup. this had a creamy body to it and homemade croutons...yum!
The scallops and chorizo app was also really good and perfectly cooked. The short ribs for dinner were served over mashed potatoes with some root veggies. Cannot remember what DH has for entrée. Desert of butterscotch pudding (made with real scotch) and carmelized sugars was heaven served in a jelly jar.
These are the little gems we need to keep around so go check it out if you haven't already.

Yelp: Another wonderful, romantic dinner at Leila's Bistro. We had the scallops to start, which had the most amazing sear and were cooked to perfection, served over a cauliflower purée. We also had the escargot which was very good. The entrees were the fish of the day (a whitefish I was unfamiliar with) again, the sear on the fish made the dish! It was crisp and salted perfectly, and perfect with the celery root purée and spinach underneath. My husband had the beef burgundy this time and it was as good as I remembered! We were stuffed beyond belief, but were then offered 2 delectable desserts, the butterscotch pudding I would go back for just by itself! It was perfect. The pumpkin pie was very good as well. Love this little gem of a restaurant and I love that it's right around the corner!

The ladies of Everyhome.com say make your  Reservation today and go and ENJOY!

Actor in a Supporting Role / Jenkintown native Bradley Cooper

At this year's Oscar Nominees Luncheon, Bradley Cooper took to the podium to answer a couple of questions from reporters, and though he was being honored as a nominee, the most notable thing Cooper said had to do with who isn't a fellow nominee this year. When asked which other Academy Award nominee he wants to hang out with on Oscar night, Cooper highlighted an actor who didn't make it into the best actor category: "I wish Tom Hanks was in there. That's kind of crazy that he's not," Cooper said, referencing Hanks's work in Captain Phillips.

Cooper endeared himself further when he talked about why he still doesn't feel entitled to being an Oscar nominee, saying, "I get to do the things that I dreamt of as a kid. To be working now with Clint Eastwood, about to do this other movie, I am absolutely living the dream. Being able to work twice with David O. Russell and Cameron Crowe in the Fall, I can't believe it. And to be able to be part of this kind of thing two years in a row . . . I just keep waiting for her [an event attendant] to take me away and say, 'Sorry, sir, what are you doing here?'"
Watch the full interview HERE!

Here is Cooper in high school where he went to Germantown Academy and Graduated in 1993.
This past Nov Bradley attended his High School reunion. "He has come back to GA a couple of times to talk to students," a school official tells PEOPLE. "He loves seeing his old teachers and enjoys reminiscing with them. When he says he's going to do something for the school, he does it. He's a big supporter and proud to be a part of this school. So it was no surprise that he came to the reunion."

Make sure you watch this Jenkintown native walk down the Red carpet!

New to Jenkintown?

Did you know Jenkintown has a
Newcomers Club?
Of Course we want to Welcome you to the Neighborhood!
Come out meet your neighbors and have some fun!

Jenkintown Newcomers club, We Turn Neighbors Into Friends.

Welcome to the 70 year of the Jenkintown Newcomers Club. The Jenkintown Newcomers Club brings Jenkintown residents together for social and civic activities. Any Jenkintown resident can join the club, whether new to the town or just new to the club. This year we have planned events that were popular in the past, as well as some new events that we hope you will enjoy.
Each year’s success is built around the time and efforts put in by the members who volunteer to coordinate and organize the events by joining the committees. We would like members with five or fewer years of membership join at least one committee. It is a great way to meet people! However, any member is welcome and encouraged to be on a committee.
We are currently seeking committee chairs or volunteers and host houses for the various events to take place in 2012-2013 as shown on the registration form. We are also currently seeking a Vice President for this year, 2012-2013. Please let us know if you are interested and have any questions about the position.
In addition, we are always open to receiving new ideas for events or information regarding new neighbors. Please feel free to contact us by e-mail. Furthermore, we encourage all to pass this flyer out to anyone new to Jenkintown or unfamiliar with the Jenkintown Newcomers Club. We want to thank everyone in advance for your time and interest in the Jenkintown Newcomers Club.
Sincerely,
Jenkintown Newcomers Club

Award winning Breakfasts and celebrites ordered up right in Jenkintown check out the West Ave Grille.

West Ave Grille is located just off 611 at 718 West Avenue Jenkintown 215-886-1540

They have without a doubt the best breakfast around from their Mile High French toast, my personal favorite and one of their signature dishes, to S'more Cakes for the kiddoes to Crab Cake Benedict.  Is your mouth watering yet? They also serve lunch and dinner with a full Bar. Using fresh ingredients and making each meal from scratch the West Ave Grille strives to make you feel right at home.
Not only can you order the Best Breakfast in the county, you also could run into a celebrity:

As pictured here Bradley Cooper stopped into the West Ave for a bite and took a picture with the waitresses. Watch more about Bradley's connection with Jenkintown  here.
Or:

The President of the United States, Yep you see it right President Obama with the owners of
West Ave Grille. That is how good the food is!
Plan your next visit to West Ave Grille by checking out their website here.
You NEVER know who you will run into next... could be Adam Goldberg creator of The Goldbergs!
Yep he's from Jenkintown too!
